Nancy's email about Sierra

It was a sad night at our house last night. We had to put Sierra down.

She was not her perky self when we got home last night so I called the vet to see if I could get her in to have him look at her. Tana had gymnastics so I dropped Thad and Sierra off at the vet (just across the road from our house) and took Tana to gymnastics. I came back to the vet's ofc and they wanted to keep her overnight. He called about ½ hr later and said she had alot of blood in her stomach. It could be 1 of 3 things--spleen, liver or cancer. The spleen he could probably fix but the other 2 he wouldn't be able to. If we chose to go on he would have to do surgery right then. I had her put down as we kind of knew that she was having stomach problems. We had her there last spring but just thought it was viral. Since then we really had to supervise her while she ate because she wouldn't. I suspect it was cancer so I had him put her down. Thad was very upset when we told him. Tana cried a little bit but more because we were crying. She told Thad that dogs die and that she has a friend where she is at.

So sorry for you guys losing such a neat dog.

We began feeding elk yesterday. It looked like about a hundred came in, but we only saw eleven. It's so gorgeous up there...lots of fresh snow. The road going up is a bit dicie! We also saw a couple of wolves on our way up there today. Hummm!
