Our ride up Willow Creek

WF Barn
WF Barn resident

The Z-U from the hill house!
Our picnic spot!

The day was gorgeous. It began here, trimming my mare's feet, loading our horses in the trailer, and heading out.

I'd taken our dog for her daily walk...and when I got home, Bob had called Irv about riding up there. He was more than gracious...saying make the Box R your second home. Wow!

We unloaded at Irv's buildings. I was stifling a lump in my throat as we headed out. We rode around Irv's pastures, remarking about how the willows have taken over in places, and how some places haven't changed in six decades. We saw well over a hundred deer, and somewhere close to that many antelope. They were all glad to be in the high country.

We rode up the creek, and into the Z-U. Bob talked about the years he owned the place and the improvements he made, and some of the plans he had for that place. For sure, there are a lot of "what ifs". Oh well, at least we were there in it's hay day! We had our picnic lunch over the old bunkhouse.

We continued up the creek...remarking on the shame the meadows are in. The work that went into those places to get them up to speed, and now they are just let go. Anyhow, we crossed into our old place, the WF ranch. Amazingly, the barn looks pretty good. After Blatt tore down our old home and shop, and burned it, he left the mess. Nothing has been cleaned up. Again, no body cares. We rode the pastures, and as a storm came in from the north, we headed back down the creek to the Box R. The entire day was a joy for me. It was so good to be on a good horse up there with Bob. Thanx Bob!

Welcome to the family Kizzy!

Golly it's warm. Sixty +.

Today we had a safety meeting with WaterDog. For those of you who don't know WaterDog, that's the company we filter water with in the Jonah Field. We have monthly safety meetings, and also some with BP at their place. You usually learn something at these meetings. Every one of the guys (and gals Katie) we work with are a delight! That too is the learning experience!

Later we went to the court house to send in for our passports. It will take ten weeks for those to come. Last time I ordered one, it came in about two weeks. In the afternoon we ran down to Big Piney for a quick doctor's visit. All is well on that front.

I need to report on Dell's new cousin. My what a cutie. She's a little yellow lab, and looks to be just barely on her feet. She's smaller than her pictures make her look. For now, her name is Kizzy. Anyhow, she's a doll.
