Alaska trip Post # 4

There must have been almost a thousand sea lions on this stretch of rocks. There were all sized, and varied in colors.
These guys were very loud and smelled like a pig pen that needed cleaning for years.
Brian's rock fish! I think I already mentioned we turned most of these lose until one day Richard said to keep them..we'd have rock fish for supper. They were as good as the halibut. You notice I'm not posting the picture of mine! It was a hoot. The spinner was almost three inches long..he didn't quite measure up to that. I took a lot of kidding over him.
Krishna always has a smile! What I've realized is I didn't get home with a picture of Karen. She's the sweetest lady. I'll get one sometime.
Oh that fishing is hard work, isn't it Bob?
There are cabins on the forest that can be reserved by anyone. I chuckled over the art work on these stumps.
Richard is fussy about keeping the boat clean. He had Brian unscrew this table from the upper deck so Krishna could clean under it! The boat is in gorgeous condition, thanx to Richard!!! :)

Alaska trip post # 3

There are permanent bear tracks to be seen. Years and years of them going down to the sea to fish. Bob had his turn at the wheel! He loved it! I can't remember what Richard was doing that he gave up the wheel.
Bob watching Richard pull up the anchor.
Richard calls this fungus. O.k...I was calling them mushrooms. Anyhow, they are the most colorful I've ever seen. This one is about 18 inches across, and is hanging upside down off a downed tree. Some were on upright trees...and on dead trees.
We spent an afternoon beach combing...Krishna and I posed by these rocks.

Alaska trip post # 2

If you haven't already seen the first posting, skip down to it first! This photo is of a brown bear, aka grizzly crossing the falls to the side where Bob and I were fishing on the bank. Double click on these pictures and you'll see the bear better.
Brian Krishna and Richard brought the whaler over to our side of the falls to "save us". Actually the bear stopped on the left side of the falls just above where Bob and I were fishing off the bank. He stayed there and caught fish is the pool at the top of the falls while we caught ours from the whaler. Actually we felt sorry for the fish, who had finally made the climb up the falls only to be caught by the bear.
Bob fishing for silvers. The bear was nearby fishing too! Bob shows off his silvers!Gina with hers!!!!Brian baited a lot of hooks for us so his dad and I could catch fish.
Bob fishing for halibut. He did catch a big one, that wore him out, and finally got away. Darn.

And Gina caught two...not so big ones. And I was taken with the halibut face! Now they have character!

Bob picking mussels. We had a great dinner on these puppies!

Alaska trip post # 1

My plan had been to post my journal. However it's handwritten as I didn't take my computer. Wound up wishing I had. I would have pictures I lost on my lost camera! Anyhow, I decided a few pictures would tell the story. I'll do several postings. This was an awesome trip!
For those of you who are surprised that the five days on the boat was my favorite part, maybe these pictures will explain that. This is not your typical Alaskan fishing boat. It's pure luxury. And Teagues were supurb hosts. Richard is so knowledgable of the boat and the waters, he's incredable. And speaking of incredable...Karen had gormet meals for us everyday. They were nothing short of awesome. It was nothing but a pleasure getting to know these delightful people. This is the Miss Gayle, a 49/50 foot Grand Banks anchored in Wise Cove. Wise Cove being named after Margaret and Glenn Wise from Pinedale. They are relatives of Richards, and this is the cove he took them to.
Brian and Karen took the whaler over to this fish merchant and got our first night's dinner. More crab than we could begin to eat. That was only the beginning of her cooking.

I didn't realize we'd have 110 electricity aboard. Brian and Bob downloaded the gps every night and discussed where we'd been, EXACTLY!

Same deal! :)
Richard and Bob and the wheel...one of them!

A small part of the first night's dinner. Awesome Karen!

Thanx for the use of the headband, Jane! I wore it every day on the boat! I'm sure Teagues think the only thing I own is the Wyoming cowgirls NIT sweatshirt. Had to laugh when Karen blossomed out in her Nebraska girls Volleyball championship sweatshirt. We should have had a picture together.
