Trip to Idaho Falls yesterday..

On the way home from Idaho Falls yesterday, these guys were on the road in the Snake River Canyon above Alpine.

They were so close to the the road you felt like you could scratch them.  They are totally unafraid.

The trip went well.  My eye appointment went really well.  It was fun to see the leaves coming out.

Dinner at the Stockmans when we got back.  Oh, Bob said I had to give him photo credits.  He did take these pictures.  My cell phone pix through the windshield were not wonderful.  He got out and took these.

Flight this morning!

We went for a flight out over the Mesa this morning, looking to see where the cattle we drove out there went.  Also we wanted to look at the reservoirs. I have a new app on my cell phone.  It's Back Country Navigator, which I think is for hiking.  This is the track it made of our flight.  I think it's so cool.

None of my pictures turned out that great..but this is interesting, mostly for those of you who lived on Willow Creek.  Look at all the water in Green Valley.

First Calf Heafers to the Soap Hole

We had a small bunch.  Barb Kitchen along with Bob and I helped Kent trail them out.

Bob on the hill.

Bob and Kent doctoring.

Thursday, May 15, 2014

Today we moved Price cows and calves to the mesa.

They had their bunch in the small lot on the hill.  We are just turning them out and down the road.  Bob is up ahead to the left. I was guarding the cattle guard!!!

This was looking back at the tail end coming off the hill.

After what turned into an easy drive we arrived at Albert's place on the Green.  This is Kent Price, Barb Kitchen, Spring Moore, Michael Klaren and Albert Sommers aat the very tail end crossing the bridge.

I ride up to the gate where they are counted on: (I have the clicker and do the counting, and catch anything that isn't paired up that gets clear up to where I am.)  At this point the guys are riding through the cows looking for sick calves and then doctoring.

This would be Kent on the ground, doctoring a calf.

Albert getting ready to rope another.

Moving yearlings to the lower reservoir in Soap Hole Draw

Heading out to make the gather.

Albert's bunch coming in from the upper school section.

Some of the riders...Bob, Ty Swain, Jilliane, Murie Allen, and Barbara Kitchen.  Albert and Kent and I aren't pictured.

This photo doesn't really show what I was after.  I looked back and you could see the "trail" because all the cattle had knocked the snow off the brush.  By this time, a lot of the snow was gone too.  It was an easy move.  Cool, no wind.  Bob and I had a really late lunch at the Stockman's.

This was about 6:30 a.m.  Later when I went to the pool, there was between two and three inches on the car.  It was neat being in the pool watching it snow so hard outside.
Oscar is really enjoying being housebound today!

Toots gets new shoes!

I have the best farrier around.  Still!
Bob's in Rock Springs today.
Hank came over for a cup of joe and a visit.  So good to see him.  We'll get together with them and really catch up.  The dogs and I went for a walk after I got back from the pool.  Had clothes out, but sprinkles had me scurring to get them in.  Then the sprinkles quite.
Speaking of sprinkles, I was using telephoto to get this shot, and the sprinkler was going between me and Bob.

Chaco is getting shoes...

Oscar is ok with his pen if the Cat or Kiz is nearby. It's really handy for me.

Bob has been flying around the state today with CAP.  Really neat.
Meanwhile, I took the Cheeney dogs out for lunch and looking for rocks.  The wind came  up so we headed back...but I had so much fun.  Oscar had a little problem with a cactus, but we got that off his leg and he was fine.  He's low to the ground to be around them.  The new lead doesn't work very well, but I hooked two together and we did fine.
