Yesterday

We did a drive into Willow Creek...twenty years ago I'd taken Jerry there.  He wanted to show Judith the Z-U and our old ranch.  I'm sure she got way more history than she really wanted, however she appeared to absorb every bit.

This old gate which is behind the bunkhouse on Dead Horse Creek is still there.  Sid built it in the mid 50's.  He measured how tall I was horse back, and how wide Sally was (she rode a fat mare), and built it to those specks.  I grin every time I see it.  It's about history now.

Then we ran up the Green.  We had our lunch just across the Kendall bridge.  Then they got a tour of our pastures that Bob managed and our old cow camp.

Bear tracks along the way.  This was a small sow, and there were tracks of her this year's cub.  The country is dry and the trees are beginning to turn.

Half Moon Lake with Jerry and Judith

After lunch we went out to Cheeneys and robbed Betty's green house.  Brought the large spagetti squash home.  Humm...will have to do something with it.  It is really large.
Tonight we're headed to Kendall Valley Lodge for dinner.  About my favorite place these days.

Ride up Fisherman Creek to Jack Creek ie Bill Web's old camp.

Twas a nice ride up there.  We'd called ahead of time, and he has it under contract.
On our way out we met the couple who are buying it.  Jill and Pat, who sold a large outfitting business in PA.  They seemed nice and up for what's ahead.

One of the teepees is people ready.

Our horses had a shady spot at the hitch wrack while we enjoyed our lunch..

At the dinning room table.

Some of the teepees that aren't set up for the season.

Our Early Morning Flight

I didn't quite get all the big planes that were in this morning.

I took this because of the shadows the dead trees create.  I thought it was an interesting pattern.

We usually take a swing over Willow Creek.

Traffic jam at the hanger.  Kevin was in the lead, then Dave, then us.

Dave talked about being at a picnic with his folks and watching this plane scoop water to dump on the fire.

And then there was the helicopter that left.  Also, Butch Grandy and a flying buddy were at the fuel station.
We went to the auction out at Johnny Wardell's ranch after this.  It was a good auction..saw a lot of interesting people..didn't buy a thing.

Spagetti Squash

Last spring I saved some seeds from a spagetti squash I bought. When Betty started her green house up, we planted 6..not even knowing if they'd grow.  They all did.  She only let 2 live, and after a few learning lessons, this is what they produced.  I'm not sure they're quite ready to pick, but almost.  Her green houses have been a huge success.

Dinner at the Kendall Valley Lodge

We had a late celebration of Bob's birthday with Michael's family and David at the old Elk Ridge Lodge, now the Kendall Valley Lodge.  It was a great evening.  These are the only pictures I took.

Sunday at the fair

Dan, Ann and Gina
(This is for Jackie and Barry!)

Sara and Jelly!

Gina, Sara, Scott and Bob!  We're here to watch Sara barrel race!

And there she goes...on Rosie!

Sat at the fair

We drove down to the fair to watch Palmer sell his swine.  His got one of the higher prices of the non champion swine.  He did good.

We wound up staying for a burger and visiting all evening with Grandys.  Ruben is such a good little kid.  He was a joy.

Then we went to the team pull.  I ordinarily don't care for them, because I think they over work their teams...but these guys all respected the time to quit, and they teams were awesome...hate that word..it's overused, but it works here.
