Hunter with his dad, and two grandpas...

The photo I said I'd blog, when Karen sent it to me. She did...and here it is. Thanx Karen!

The Colorado River in Texas

This is a small painting by V. Vaughan, an artist that Lynn Thomas followed on her blog. The reason for my blogging it, is again, genealogy. My mother's mother was raised in Columbus Texas, on the Colorado River. The family farm was on the river. This painting looks like it could have been done right there...but who knows.

We went to Idaho Falls yesterday, but I didn't take any pictures. The color in the canyons is just beginning. Nothing worth noting at this point. I should have stopped and taken pictures of the combining of the wheat which was being done along the highway. Lots of that going on there.

We went to the eye clinic, and got a head start on Christmas shopping. Nothing exciting. Ate a good lunch at Carino's. On the way home we crossed the dam and went down to the boat dock, as Bob had never done that.

Michael brought our hay out...and after he and Bob got it unloaded...
Bob covered it...
with help
And The Cat had to make sure it was done right...

Lunch at the Brew Pub

Would you believe I didn't take my camera. That's right. Anyhow Brian and Hunter invited us to lunch with his in-laws Karen and Richard. Krishna was at work at the school. Karen and Richard were here for a short visit getting re-acquainted with their grandson. They are the people we visited in Alaska and gave us the wonderful fishing trip on their boat. Karen took pictures and promises to send me some. When she does, I'll blog some. One in particular I have in mind, with the granddads, Brian and Hunter.

View of the Hudson River from the Palisades Englewood Cliffs New Jersey

I came across this picture of a wonderful watercolor done in 1873. This is where my Grandmother Pape, then Alice Amelia Coyte, was born and raised. My interest in genealogy always springs to life when I see something like this. Thought some of you might enjoy seeing it too.

We're done haying!

We got Michael's hay up Friday. We finished our hay last night. We had finished with the baling, but got rained on a little while Michael was still stacking. We stopped for about 45 minutes and let it dry...then he got that picked up.

Some good news to report, Erma Shriver is up and around good enough to play bridge. She may join us Wednesday if her "schedule" works out. She played last Friday. Best news I've had in a long time.

Today we begin "catch up" around here, for much neglected stuff during our haying. The clothes lines are full...and here I am, dinking on the computer. May be what gets accomplished today.

George & Texas Pape 70 Anniversary

Sally mentioned this date on her blog this morning. She's right. Since Susan brought this picture up the other day on her facebook page, I decided to blog it. Our father was home on leave from the Marines. This was taken in our grandmother's yard in Houston Texas. Susan had been spanked, for what I know not...when they got the "family portrait" back...there I was with Daddy's hat and the switch in my mouth. There wasn't one taken with us all looking at the camera and smiling...

Two other anniversaries today, Paul and Bette Hagenstein, and Dennis and Mary Ann Almquist oh...if I'm right, Greg and Robyn Grassell.
Finished mowing at Michael's yesterday. Left the field with headlights last night. If we finish baling today, we'll start "our" hay tomorrow on Jerry King's place. Bale the next day.

Anne Dew Brown's funeral.

These are the Wasatch Academy grads who were at Anne's funeral earlier this month. I finally got the picture...so I'm blogging it as promised. Left to right, Tim Watson, Gina Feltner, Betty Dew Capen, Ted Dew, Colleen Anton, Bob Dew, Edith Stanger, and Marilyn Reagan. Edith graduated in 1941..and she drove over from Idaho Falls alone that day to join us. I'm the youngest graduating in 1959. Edith and Marilyn worked with Anne on the Alumni board...and I'm not sure Colleen's connection.

Those of you who know I'm spending many hours in the hayfield...a day off. It rained at Michael's, and now its raining here. I think we are going to do some cowboying however. I'm doing some much needed cooking.
