Doesn't she look like she should be on the cover of Western Horseman or something? For a while she had her pink leather vest on too..but the day was just too warm. Kirsten is just riding for the first time this year.
We were taking the last little bunch to pasture. We've spent four long days cowboying...bringing stuff in from the Mesa...cutting pairs..old cows and calves north..young pairs in to be vaccinated, and down on the Tracey place. Somehow when I write it up, it doesn't sound like that much work, but it is. I enjoyed every moment.
We started the day loading the horses and a picnic lunch and heading up country. We rode up the Well's trail...you might remember a couple of years ago, that's where Bob had his bad horse wreck. Anyhow, we rode up that, and once on top, Bob gps-ed a fence he wanted to do for several years. Then we rode into Phil's camp...and visited with his dog. We rode a couple of different trails up on top...discussed the pros and cons of last years fire, and rode back down to the truck and trailer. It was about seven p.m. after we had our horses unsaddled and taken back to pasture. When we got home, there was a message from Michael about them doing a Father's Day picnic at New Fork Lake. We jumped back in the truck and headed back up there. They were just starting the fire and digging out the kid's fishing gear as we arrived. It was a fun evening..enjoying the fire by the lake. Neat day!

We began the day heading up to Snook's old place to meet Leif who is replacing us at the Mosquito Lake cow camp. We had some electric fence wire he needed. On the way we saw a doe with new fawns. Later I'll post some hay stack photos. I have more Willow Creek pictures I mean to post sometime too. This photo of Bob leaning on Snooks' old truck is pretty cool!
Later we gathered up Sally and headed down to Muddy to Lynn Thomas'. We enjoyed her lemonaide and cookies...beautiful smile, and wonderful art. She has her Art in the Barn up, and I love to go see it every year. Sally sent the photo of Lynn and myself! Thanx Sally.
On the way home we stopped at Michael's. He said I could rifle his trash for an old fence post. I have great ideas to decorate it. We'll see. If it turns out you'll see it here. If not..you won't! Palmer was helping load some old wood for us.
Jeanette is an amazing lady. Next week she'll be 89 years old. Today is also Wilma and Ken's 50th anniversary. They want the day to belong to Jeanette however, so a proper celebration will be later. Jeanette's book, "Sundown" is going to be a fun read. It's a look into our county's history from a woman's point of view..not to mention, from her humerous point of view. I haven't read it..just looked through it, but I can tell I'll enjoy it.
