Bull Day

Michael picked us up about seven and we drove up to the Bentonite Pile. We rode to the cattleguard on top and waited for bulls.  Phil McGinnis met us, and soon the trucks, trailers and bulls arrived. It was absolutely the quietest bull drive ever. In an hour we had them where they were going. My mare didn't even get sweated up.  We rode back to the Bentonite Pile in time to meet the 2nd loads being hauled up. We helped Jillian get them through the red gate..where they pretty much scattered on their own. We drove to Kendall Lodge where Bob treated Michael and me to hamburgers.  Nice day.

Cousin Fix

Yesterday I drove to Moran, at the Heart 6 Ranch where the Strongs are staying for a couple of days. I didn't get too long a visit with the kids before they took off on a float trip. Turned out they had me scheduled to go too..however I had to be back in Pinedale for David's studio reception. Louise and Beeman and I had a several hour visit..they treated me to a fried chicken lunch and I drove home. It was a delightful day for me. I didn't get to know the kids anywhere near well enough..but hopefully that'll happen again.

Saturday Ride up to New Fork and over to Willow Creek

Tana is all about selfies..she takes some good ones. This photo got flipped..I do not carry my rope on the left side. :)

Bob took this of Tana and me with Wood Draw in the back.

Up on Little Flattop look across the valley to Willow Lake

Looking down at our old ranch on Willow Creek.  We had our picnic on Willow Creek in the Ranger Station pasture. We got home about four or four thirty. Nancy and Troy and Betty and Brent spent the day golfing at the tournament. We all had a good day.

Wednesday

Cattle crossing the Tosi bridge

I found a deep little sand cut going to the river, to make a rest stop in. Looked up and saw these yearlings peering over the edge at me. By the time I got my camera out three had already turned and moved on. I thought it was so funny.

The Cutting Grounds to the Bar Cross

Looking off of Trapper's Point...cattle stringing for miles.

Kirsten was with us this morning. Love this shot. The sun was hitting her but not the ground, yet.

Found myself on the old Cora road which is now part of the driveway. My folks were driving this when I was born.

Some of our cattle got through the buffalo fence, and the gate was locked. Bob called the forman who he knows from working on the ditch, and he came and opened it.

Carol Richie..looking good after a long day! Her little dog Pepper is a neat cow dog.
Cattle bailing off into Hennick Draw and fog..it had been foggy all morning on top. Then sort of cleared, and here is more fog rolling up the draw and recovered the Mesa.

Friday ride up to Miller Park

Still drifts in the trails.

There was an elk way at the end down there that eagle eye Bob spotted. I finally saw it with the binoculars.

Soap Hole Day

The beginning of the drive up country with the drift. My VERY least favorite day.

Bob and Palmer..
I'll only ride about every other day. Only have one horse..and that'll work out about right for me!
