Chaco's surgery

I don't have these in very good order...but Bob got some good pictures of his surgery. The third picture should be the second one. The last one is after he is sewn up but still on the ventilator.

Saturday

Betty and Brent showed up with a tv antenna like the one they installed. For whatever reason, weather probably a huge facter, the installation did not go smoothly. We could tell however it was going to be great when it was done.

Later they came back, and it did turn out great. Thank you so much. Brent was out in that rain and snow, doing the outside installation, while Betty was putting it together inside.

Bob and Chaco got home just in time to watch the Kentucky Derby. Meanwhile Jim Slagle an old Army buddy of Bob's showed up. They hadn't seen each other for decades. It was a really neat evening.

Chaco got through his surgery well yesterday. Bob plans to bring him home Saturday after the vet checks him over.

Took Faith to lunch at the Pointe today. Visited with Krcil and Ellen Reed who was with Randy and Connie.

We are enjoying a good rain now.

Chaco

A couple of weeks ago Bob took Chaco, and Salude who you can see in the background in to the Vet Clinic in town. We've known Chaco had a breathing problem. I'd visited with Glenn Millard over a year ago, and he said it was common in race horses. If memory serves, California Chrome had this.

These guys reccomended having him scoped at the South Valley Animal Clinic in South Jordan Utah, and then probable surgery. Yesterday Bob took him there. They did the scope and determined to do the surgery this morning. Hope he's a new horse. Will report more when I know more. When they (the above pic) had him breathing into the sleeve, I knew he was certainly the only horse we have who would have done that. Salude nearly left the country, and he was way across the lot.

Yesterday I took Faith Reed to Idaho Falls to visit Allan. He's out of intensive care, and very weak. He was supposed to be moved to rehab late in the afternoon, and I hope that happened. He needs to be moving around. Anyway, we had a nice day. Did a little more shopping for her. Dinner at the Stockman's after we got home. It was a late dinner.

The Upper New Fork Lake

The other day at New Fork Lake. The upper lake was losing ice faster than the lower. Little Flattop looks so different after the burn.
Took Toots out for a spin on the Mesa yesterday afternoon. Had to road test her new shoes! Loved being horseback....
I'm going to Connie Binning's funeral today. So sad. I'm taking Faith Reed, who was her neighbor for decades.

Lunch at Kendall Valley Lodge and more..

We drove up to Kendall Valley Lodge and had a great burger.
Then we drove up the Green River Lakes road for a few miles until we were just sick of the rough road..and turned around.
We drove into New Fork Lake, and a great road and enjoyed this view.

We went up to the narrows...took this shot. Visited with Van Huffman and dog. We walked around the campground and I remembered loving to camp there. It does look different with the burn across the way.

Drove into Willow Creek...and again was flooded with memories. It was a great afternoon. On the way out we ran into Randy Miller and visited a good half an hour.

Update on Allan and Toots gets shoes

Notice Toot's sweet disposition...she lays her ears back the whole time she is being shod. She's good about it though..no jerking back or leaning on Bob.

This is a shot I took of Allan last fall with an old buddy of mine Barry Nelson.
Had a long visit with Dave Reed this morning. Allan went into surgery yesterday; they went in through the schull and inserted a drain tube to relieve the pressure. He has a huge hematoma that needs drained. Some is old blood from a previous fall and hitting his head, and part is new. Sure hope they can figure out the cause of these falls. He'll be in the hospital for close to a week I'm sure.

A little catchup..

Mark..I got the word I need to update this more often! :) And I know, you have told me the same thing! I'll try to do better!!!
Bob putting some shoes on Jelly Bean. Tis that time of year.

A few days ago we were flying. This is a shot of my favorite country..the upper Willow Creek.

Today started out with a phone call at 3:00 a.m. from Faith Reed. She had meant to call Renne, but dialed us instead. Allan had fallen twice and she was concerned. We drove over, he was tucked in bed asleep, with a bloody face. I think he had a bloody nose..he did have a couple of abraisions on his face. After much discussion, we decided just to leave him a lone, come back later in the morning. We did that..and at 7:30 a.m. they still hadn't called kids. I insisted they do that. Then I insisted he go to the clinic. Dave elected to take him, although I would have been happy to do so if need be. Bottom line he was helicopter ambulanced to Idaho Falls. He had blood on the brain, from a hard knock on the head.

We met Betty and Brent at the Brew Pub for lunch. It was really neat..it was fairly quiet in there..yeah..and had a good sandwich.
Later we drove out to Betty's to look at their new antenna. I'm about to bail on Direct TV and go to an antenna and a fire stick.

And I just read this as I was logging on...If you have trouble getting on my blog soon, this may be why!

This and That..

As always, I do far more posting on fb than here.
This is a b.d. dinner we did with Bob's sons celebrating Michael and Jennifer's birthdays, several weeks late. We went to the Den, and although it was very noisy, it was a lot of fun, and the food was great.

Sara's mare foaled the other day. He's about 12 hours old here, and really on his feet.

Faith Reed and I went to Rock Springs clothes shopping theother day. I drove her out to the wild horse corrals which she didn't know were there. This photo doesn't begin to show all the horses.
