Trip to Cheyenne

Friday we drove to Cheyenne to spend time with Nancy and Troy and Tana.  Thad was gone.  We had Frontier Days tickets for Saturday.  The above photo is of the Grand Entry, and the gal on the left is Rylee Anderson, daughter of an old friend of Nancy's.  It was fun to watch her.  I really didn't photograph the rodeo or the parade, which we watched first.

That night Bob and I went over to Pat Stanocheck's home, which is very near Eberhard's.  We were invited for dinner, as an old friend of mine from Maryland was there.  Bill Millar..who is sitting there with Bob.  After this dinner, we all went to Lady Antebellum.  It was a great show.  I'd do that again.

These photos definately aren't in order, but this is where we were to watch the parade.  It was in the shade, and we had a grand view.

On our way home on Sunday, we went by Curt Gowdy State Park, which Bob hadn't seen, and he got to enjoy some of David's art.

This is in the center..Bob's signing in, I think.  Anyhow, the gal there graduated with Thad last spring.  We stopped in Laramie for a chat with Jane.  She treated us to lunch before we left.  The girls were so neat to us.

Sunday morning, we had bacon and hashbrowns and fresh eggs out on the deck.  Pure heaven as far as I'm concerned.

Tana with her lamb.

Friday night after dinner that Nancy made us, Troy took us all for frozen youurt in his gto. Great treat.

Birthday dinner for Bob

Bob's birthday was actually Sunday, but this is the first chance to get his family here.
We dined on hamburgers and fruit...and cherry pie.
Then we had a rousing game of spoons.  The kids and Michael had never played spoons.  It was a fun evening.

Yesterday

We took the plane out for a neat morning flight.  Boy..most of the snow is gone.  Only some left in the peakes.

I took Ellen to lunch at the Pointe...Bob didn't go because they had quiche.

We drove up to the old ranch and Bob changed the water on the pasture.  This goose and two ducks were enjoying the water and feed.  They scurried home when we came along.

Then we went up to the rodeo grounds and watched the Diamond Z hitch practice.  Apparently the night before the performance hadn't been exactly stellar..

Chris treated me with a ride and even driving the team. He appologized for having unhitched the front two first.  They are neat people..and gorgeous horses.

Sara came over to the practice arena to run Lip Gloss, where she did really well.

The Diamond Z team with the Saunder's family aboard.  Bill and Martha are this year's grand marshals.  Congrats to them.  Neat people.

A day ride up Willow Creek

We had our picnic lunch up on Flat Top....the burn has completely change the scenery.

The flowers are phenominal.  This is taken from my seat on a burned log.  Tall larkspur in the front, then a field of ccinquefoil, lupin, and wild geraniums.

Looking at our old bridge..which is there, but non functional.

As we were riding toward the rangerstation, I turned and took this shot.  Except for the missing buildings, this country is vertually the same.

A couple pix from Jane's visit

Jane took several of these.

We were treated to quite a rainbow.

Travis, Michael, Palmer, and Jamie..Travis treated us to camp coffee and fresh bread.  His wife has started a bakery in Dubois.

Showing Michael and Palmer the bear tree in Kiya Park.  Rita and Jamie were there too.

View of the hats in the front seat heading down the mountain.
It was a neat day.  The bulls moved easily.  Then we rode into camp..mostly to show Palmer where Bob had spent so many years.  We were there an hour or so, visiting and enjoying coffee.  We stopped at the Kendall Lodge and Michael treated us all to hamburgers.

Last Couple of Days

Jane came Friday evening. After dinner, Jane and I played crib.  Just for the record :), I won two out of three games!  Yeah for me!  Doesn't happen much!  Bob rode Saturday, but Jane and I went to the Big Piney airport for breakfast.  When Bob left about a quarter after four a.m., he said, "Now don't take the plane to the fly-in!"  Yeah right.  The CAP plane from Jackson was there, and Alex gave us a demo of the infra red camera.

We spent the better part of the day celebrating Cliff Brewer's life.  Many neat people were at that event.
In the evening, Betty came over and the girls played crib.  It was a joy being with them.

Sunday morning, Bob rode.  Jane and I took the rhino out and did some rock hunting and took a little time out for a photo shoot.  We definately had the wrong camera.  She has a new state of the art one, but we had my phone.  I did think this pear cactus turned out beautiful.  Enlarge it to get the full affect.

The mountains were so gorgeous from where we were, we did these shots.  The mountains were far more beautiful in real life then in these shots.  But we had great fun.  We had lunch at the Stockman's before Jane left for Laramie.  Thanx Jane...I had planned for us to buy your lunch!
