We...well the airport had a fly-in yesterday..

This was the hit of the show.  Butch Grandy, the guy furtherest back looking through the guys, has spent 18 years rebuilding this wrecked mall (hope that's correct).  He had flown it once, but basically this was it's maiden voyage.  Bob said it's one of 7 with that engine.  Jamie, who is in the left seat, flys a similiar one for the Game and Fish...or some company that flys surveys for the Game and Fish.  He's looking over Butch's instrument panel.
There were probably a dozen planes came in..two from Laramie.  I don't know who got the "furthest" award of 200 gallons of fuel.  Maybe those two guys could split it.
A side note on Butch...he's the youngest son of Lee Grandy of Farson, who was Wayne's room mate at the University of Wyoming.  Nice nice family.

This morning

We flew this morning...mostly up and down the river spying on ranchers.  This was about the only shot I got that was worthwhile.
Ellen and I played bridge in Big Piney.  We won high and 2nd high...ah yes, I should mention..I was high.  I had an awesome score..probably will never have one like that again, but it was fun while it lasted.
We came back via the river road, which Ellen loves.  She's a great traveler.

Celebrating Paul and Bette Hagenstein's 65 anniversary

Meghann and Dave were there even after their all night party.  Great friends.

Still a gorgeous couple...
I always remember their anniversary, which actually is the 28th of August, because my parents were married that day, in 1939, at the Fly A.  Paul and Bette were married at a wedding chapel in Las Angeles, which was where she lived.

Tom and Norm...

Dave & Meghann's Wyoming reception

Bob and Steege pretty much finished up their ditch project on Saturday.  There is some "dressing up on the bank work yet to do.
I spent all morning at an auction which featured Feltner family things.  I was delighted to run into Camie from Kansas.  Britt's wife was there.  She was the family representative buying back things Cub had gone off and left when he sold the home.  I bought a few items.  Bill and Carrie Bud were there and they bought some too.  Everyone except Dave, didn't bid against Camie.

This was a fun evening...

Meghann with her dad Tommy..good to meet him.

The kids had a great time dancing.

I should have taken more than one picture of Jim and Charm!

I took several of Jane and Bette and believe it or not, this was the best.

Dinner last night..

I finally got myself in gear to have Sally and Pete and Hank over for dinner.  Sally and Pete could be leaving any day.  Should have taken the picture when the table was full, but we've just cleaned up the really good peach pie Sally made.  The funny part of that was....she spent all afternoon on it..then forgot to bring it.  Pete went back after it.  It was the best part of the meal.

Bob on Toots

I was looking for a photo that I hadn't put here that might be of interest.  I can't even remember why he'd caught Toots and ridden across the pasture, but I captured the moment.  I think we'd gone out to give spring shots, and she was the one who didn't come to have a treat.  She doesn't care a whole lot about grain.

Saturday

Bob and Steege are laying pipe in the Stipa ditch where it keeps washing out.  It's a big project.  I took the 4 wheeler over there and took photos.  They have to spread a layer of sand under it, set it on grade with the transit, and cover it.  Then getting the next one attached is no easy matter.

Meanwhile, today Jane and Scott are here.  I had breakfast with them at Betty and Brent's where Brent is king of the waffle makers.  Then he put new tires on my car.  I feel so good about that.  I've not liked the way my tires looked all summer.  Thank you Brent!

Just visited with Hank Ruland as he got in from his rounds, and he told me about the fire up at the Boulder Lake Estates.  Bob saw it after lunch, and phoned me about it.  I understand it's under control.  Tried to call Charm, but she was out and about.  Probably packing her car with her paintings...I hope.

Yesterday I took the car to Rock Springs to get the wheels aligned.  I invited Ellen to go along.  We had a delightful day.  She's a hoot in Walmart in their electric carts.  She loves to shop there and be left alone.  We had a great lunch at Applebees, her treat..and came home later in some huge rain storms.  Neat day.

Green River Lakes from 23 thousand feet

My son in law sent this from a pilot friend.  You do want to double click on this to enlarge it.  This is quite a photograph!

Sharon Schell's open house

Sharon's art is amazing.  Loved being there this afternoon.

Should have stuck the picture of Dick Klaber and Bob admiring Sharon's lady!

These pictures don't do any of this justice.  She's transformed Bill's wood shop into this wonderful studio/gallery.

Ride up Irish Canyon

We rode into Lamberouix Meadows yesterday..almost to Johnson Lake.

It's different country..but an interesting ride.  We were on 4-wheeler trails almost the whole way. Bob is checking his gps here to see how far we are from Johnson Lake, where he camped with Amie and Jerry over three decades ago.  I had been up here 15 years or so with Mark, and knew about Chester's camp.  Bob was amazed.

And we rode by Chester's camp.  Jelly Bean was very unsure of all of that, but I made him stand and get used to all the dogs barking.  Chester came out and visited both times we went by.  It's quite a camp he has...he watches gates for Richie's for his "rent".
