Last spring I saved some seeds from a spagetti squash I bought. When Betty started her green house up, we planted 6..not even knowing if they'd grow. They all did. She only let 2 live, and after a few learning lessons, this is what they produced. I'm not sure they're quite ready to pick, but almost. Her green houses have been a huge success.

Sat at the fair
We drove down to the fair to watch Palmer sell his swine. His got one of the higher prices of the non champion swine. He did good.
We wound up staying for a burger and visiting all evening with Grandys. Ruben is such a good little kid. He was a joy.
Then we went to the team pull. I ordinarily don't care for them, because I think they over work their teams...but these guys all respected the time to quit, and they teams were awesome...hate that word..it's overused, but it works here.

Another day at the fair
Wednesday, July 24, 2013
Wed.
We flew around the airport today to take pictures of irrigation water in and around the airport. Apparently there is some big meeting Friday about it.
Then we went to the fair to watch Palmer in his showmanship class with his swine. He won his class. We got home late and ate supper at the Stockman's before Bob doing his ditch.

Hibbards
Bear Bait Park and Still Water with McLellans
We were in the saddles at four and heading up the trail to Bear Bait Park, one of the old elk hunting grounds that Bob used decades ago.
Charm leading back down. Jim would lead up and Charm down. Toots remembering her eight hours under the saddle yesterday, wasn't too thrilled, but she did it.
Oh yum! The picture I tried of the moon coming up as we rode down, didn't turn out. Darn. Thank you Charm and Jim for a really neat evening.

Cattle Drive into Fish Creek Park
Up at three. Met Prices at the cutting grounds at 4:30 a.m. Horseback at the Bentonite Pile at six. Different people got different counts on the riders but it was between 22 and 25 hands on this drive. Actually it went pretty well. We pushed well over 700 head into the park getting there about eleven. We stood guard, ie letting them mother up for an hour. We were back at the trailers at 2:00. Eight hours horseback. We had hamburgers at the Place. They were good, but it seemed like it took forever. Maybe because we were all so hungry and tired. We were also the last crew to get there, so we were the last crew served. Zac's crew was first, and they were done before we were served. We were home about 4:30. All in all it was a really good day.
