Shipping day at Michael's..

It's just getting light..and Michael's family is saddled up. Michael's kids are dnow riding Something and Thirsty..two horses he would have never guessed would make good kid's horses. Those kids were horseback...and did really well.
Michael is in the gate, beconing to me (taking the photo...and in the shadow to get in there to sort horseback. Some of the other riders in this picture are Jennifer, Mikie Beard, Sherry Butner, Gene Pearson, Palmer and Kirsten. Troy Owen, Dale Jensen and Bob are not in the photo. We had a good crew.
Down at Bould at the scales...buyer "Geezer", Michale, and brand inspector, Mike Vickory.

Election Day in PInedale

I snagged this from pinedaleonline.com. Dustin and Mariah were fabulous help. We voted 715 in our precinct and in August we did 555. Pretty good, huh!

Drake Rooks

http://www.drakerooksfund.com/Home_Page.html

I very seldom do these things...but I was taken with this story.  Drake was raised here and went to school in Pinedale when my kids did.  He was a neat kid.  I haven't seen him since.  Clicking on this link is worthwhile.

We had spooks last night!!!

Jennifer and Susan (Mitchell) brought John, Kirstie and Palmer by to scare us. The Cat was terrified! It was fun to see them, even though I was so sick I couldn't really appreciate their visit.

Well winter's comin'!!

We had a doctor appointment in Jackson Monday. The roads were a nightmare..to the point we stopped at the rim to turn around. On second thought we decided a cup of coffee was in order and maybe the weather might change. Well, the fog lifted so we could see anyhow. The rest of the trip went well.
This was the sunrise this morning out the back door. We have a skiff of snow...tracking snow as Bob would say. He's right..even the cat tracks it in.

I lost a special friend...

Erma Dean Steele Shriver

June 9, 1918 - October 12, 2010

I was fortunate enough to have her as a very special friend for over a half a century.

My girls were fortunate enough to have her as their grandmother.

Rest in peace Erma. I can guess that you and Pat are rounding up bridge players as I write this.

The guys go to hunting camp!!!

Somehow, I'm slow getting this post on. I drove up to the New Fork Narrows to help pack...I helped with two horses, then David took over. The three guys took five pack horses...and were ready for any kind of weather. So far it's been gorgeous.  The peak season for beautiful leaves is over...still wonderful however.

Bob and David are packing Snip.
Bob on Chaco with Snip and Toots..
And there they go...good luck guys!!!!  Oh I went down to the lake and had a late morning picnic lunch.  Should have done like Judi and taken my paints.  Early in the morning I didn't think once about paints.

Back up Scab Creek

The fall colors are still gorgeous...maybe a little past their peak, but non-the-less, it was a beautiful ride up to Mike's camp.
Last week we had a "hellaceous" thunder and lightening storm go through our area. This tree was about eighteen yards from their tent, and it was blown apart. He related they saw it happen through the tent wall.
With all they guys there, I just watched as they packed the horses.
