The Skipjack Nathan

Maxine and her crew fixed us a wonderful brunch before we took off in the sail boat. There were over twenty of us eating, and I think 19 aboard...we had lots of room. What an experience.

Captain Frank...a knowledgeable man who knows much history in this area.
Bill wanted me at the wheel for the experience. I knew NOTHING of what I was doing. But here's a picture of me doing it. We were sailing in the Cheseapeake Bay..and fingers thereof. We were out over three hours...and it was a pleasure.
This is Bill's dock with the Skipjack untying. The crew is all volunteers...it's a 75 foot oyster dredge that has been restored.

The Ferry

A couple of the Michigan guys are staying in the same Inn I am, in Oxford. Today, they were busy setting up for the party at the Millars, so we elected to stay out of their way. After eating the breakfast they present at our door, out on the veranda, we drove to St. Michael's. That entails crossing the Trent Avaon River by ferry. It runs about every sixteen minutes, so it's not too big a deal. It's a touristy town...rather quaint, and everything is old. Very old. We ate lunch there..and again I had crab cakes. I chuckled when they ordered hamburgers.
I might add it's very hot. Very. We all wore western clothes tonight, and we all were way over dressed for the occasion. I would have liked to take pictures of all the hats, but I felt it wouldn't have been in good taste. Many of them would have made Halloween costumes. Literally.
Last night Bill and Maxine treated all of us who were here to dinner at a little seafood place near where I'm staying. It was wonderful. This party is certainly adding to the economy.
I'll add more later. I'm getting a questionable strength message about internt.

Shots of the party

This party had a western theme, so no crab rolls tonight. I have been gorging on crab rolls. Ohh so good.
I don't really know if you can see this spread, but there was the pig, beef, chicken, many sausages, potatoes, salads, fruits, beans, rolls and on and on. Two full bars..a band, dance floor. It was much fun. I met many interesting people. The man in the colorful shirt in this shot is Bill's brother, Bob.
This is Bill and his wife Maxine. She's a lovely lady, who certainly knows how to entertain.

Bill's Eightieth birthday party

This was an incredible event. Bill and Maxine hosts over two hundred and fifty of us to celebrate Bill's eightieth birthday. There was a New York contingent represent people he knew where he was raised. Then the Michigan contingent with the Equitable Insurance that he made into such a successful company. You are looking at the Wyoming contingent...Pat and Mary from Cheyenne that he knew when he ranched in Wheatland, and then me, representing the Pape family. He credits Mother and Daddy for saving his life. (It might very well have been Dr. MacLeod). My mother hovered over him at the Jackson Hospital for two months during his recovery.

Oxford MD

Dinner at Bill and Maxine Millar's...an awesome sea food dinner on the bay. I can't tell you how beautiful their place is. More later. My flight went well. I've never done first class before. I'm spoiled.
